Artisans & Ethics: The Heart of Our Production
Slow fashion is more than just a motto for us; it's a fundamental commitment to responsible production and low waste. We treat every piece as a significant investment of our time, resources, and craftsmanship. Our entire workflow, from thoughtfully sourcing materials to the final delivery, is a carefully deliberate approach. This commitment to thorough requirements means we will not rush new product releases. It is our clear and active dedication to our promise, delivering quality, not quantity.
Ethical Partnerships: Seeking partners to work with is built on a careful balance. We partner with independent artisans to preserve their craft, while also working with expert factories for products that require specialized skills. This dual commitment ensures both exceptional quality and the preservation of our core ethical values.
To achieve this, we intentionally seek out collaborations with a diverse range of artisan operations, whose traditional, low-impact processes ensure fair wages, preserve generational skills, and result in superior, heirloom-quality products for our customers, creating a vital bridge to help them thrive. From small stand-alone artists through SMCE (Small and Micro Community Enterprise). In the case that requires specialized machines, like knitwear, we also partner with expert factories. In these cases, our commitment to ethical production is paramount, and we carefully vet each partner to ensure they treat their workers properly and maintain fair labor practices, helping to sustain a community of skilled creators and keep the spirit of their art alive.
Conscious material: The Fashion industry has many materials marketed as a sustainable choice, but we recognize that sustainability demands a comprehensive approach. We consistently move far beyond a single action.
We approach from a circular mindset throughout the entire lifecycle of our garments: from initial design and material selection to production, consumer use, and ultimate disposal. We selectively choose high-quality, sustainable materials for durability and longevity. This strategy ensures our products are easily repairable and, critically, readily recyclable or reusable at the end of their lifecycle.
To maximize resource utilization and minimize waste, we actively incorporate high-quality deadstock fabrics into some of our pieces. These textiles undergo the same rigorous quality inspections as newly produced materials. By intentionally using ethically produced and long-lasting fabrics, we directly challenge the disposable culture of fast fashion. This unwavering commitment to mindful, high-quality material sourcing is the foundation of our promise for a positive impact.
In order to create durable garments, both natural and synthetic materials were taken into consideration. Since we are not limited by this, it allows us to be guided by what is most suitable for each final product. But yet still remain and pass the same principle.
Each product we had curated, even within a single material type, such as cotton, varieties possesses unique strengths. For this reason, we meticulously select the most appropriate type of cotton for each design. For example, our shirts are crafted from premium Egyptian cotton, renowned for its exceptional softness and superior durability. To achieve a powerful, natural luster, we selectively use Suvin cotton for our cardigans. a variety celebrated for its brilliant sheen that outshines many others. While natural fibers possess excellent qualities, certain applications necessitate synthetic fibers. Such as the lining of our bag, chosen from synthetic fabric due to its waterproof and easy-to-clean properties.
A Guide for Cardigan
It all begins with an idea.
You've invested in a quality garment, and with just a little care, your cardigan can last for years! This simple guide shares our best tips for keeping it in perfect condition. We took the factory's advice and tested it ourselves, so you know these guidelines are actually practical for your daily routine, not just something you read on a tag.
The most recommended method is always hand-washing, but let's be honest, that's not always realistic for a busy life. The good news is you can absolutely use a washing machine. Just make sure to always use a laundry bag. For the best protection, wash in gentle mode and put only one cardigan in each bag. This small step makes a huge difference, preventing the cardigan from snagging on other items or getting pulled as the machine spins
Hanging guide.
We always recommend flat-drying your knitwear. Hanging it can cause the wet fabric to stretch, pulling the piece out of shape.
As a Last Resort
We understand that life can be busy. If flat-drying is absolutely not an option, you may use a tumble dryer under these strict conditions only when necessary and on rare occasions:
For emergency machine drying, please use a NO-HEAT or AIR-DRY setting for a short period. If your dryer does not have these options, you may use the tumble dryer on the absolute lowest heat setting for a maximum of 10 minutes. The goal is to remove excess dampness, not to dry the garment completely. Always remove the garment while still damp and lay it flat to finish drying.
Please Be Aware: Any use of a machine dryer may cause minor shrinkage and can affect the signature texture and luxurious feel of Suvin cotton over time. We recommend this method for emergencies only.
Understanding Cotton: Beyond the Familiar
Understanding Cotton: Beyond the Familiar
While cotton is the world's most familiar natural fiber, widely used for its affordability and versatility, it's crucial to understand that not all cotton is created equal. Just as wine varies by vineyard, the quality and characteristics of cotton are profoundly influenced by its grade, variety, and place of origin. We are meticulous in our selection, focusing on exceptional varieties like Egyptian cotton and Suvin cotton, each chosen for its unique properties that suit different product lines.
Suvin Cotton
The difference between standard cotton and varieties like Suvin is monumental. We feature Suvin cotton in Cardigan for compelling reasons. It is widely regarded as one of the finest and longest staple cottons in the world.
Suvin is a rare hybrid, cultivated primarily in the southern regions of India. Its distinction lies in its extra-long staple (ELS) length, a crucial metric that determines softness, strength, and luster. The longer the fiber, the stronger the yarn, and the silkier the resulting fabric.
Unmatched Softness: Suvin fibers are exceptionally thin and long, creating a texture that feels remarkably soft and buttery against the skin, often compared to cashmere or silk.
Luxurious Luster: Unlike conventional cotton, which can appear dull, Suvin possesses a natural, subtle sheen that gives the fabric a luxurious, elegant drape and visual depth.
Durability and Longevity: Its long staple means fewer fiber ends protrude from the yarn, leading to minimal pilling and outstanding resistance to wear and tear. Products made with Suvin cotton retain their integrity and quality through years of use and washing.
Why We Choose Egyptian Cotton for Our Shirts
While Suvin cotton is celebrated for its unparalleled softness and luster in certain premium items, Egyptian cotton is equally exceptional and holds a crucial place in our collection, particularly for our shirts. It's important to understand that both are top-tier fibers, simply optimized for different product characteristics.
Superior Strength and Durability: Egyptian cotton is renowned for its extra-long staple (ELS) fibers, which, similar to Suvin, create strong, fine yarns. This strength translates directly into fabric that is incredibly durable and resistant to tearing or thinning, making it ideal for a garment like a shirt that undergoes frequent wear and laundering.
Ideal for Structure and Finish: Unlike the ultra-soft, draped quality of Suvin, Egyptian cotton often provides a crisper hand-feel and better structure when woven. This characteristic allows our shirts to maintain a clean, sharp silhouette and a sophisticated finish that is essential for tailored apparel.
Excellent Absorbency and Breathability: Egyptian cotton naturally has high absorbency, meaning it takes dye exceptionally well, resulting in richer, more vibrant, and lasting colors. Furthermore, its high-quality weave allows for superior breathability, ensuring comfort throughout the day.
In short, while Suvin delivers supreme luxury, Egyptian cotton delivers the perfect balance of resilience, structure, and polished aesthetic that makes it the optimal choice for a high-quality, long-lasting shirt. They are both leaders in the world of cotton, each excelling in its own unique way. By carefully choosing the optimal fiber for each item. Suvin for our most luxurious, enduring pieces and Egyptian cotton for products prioritizing robust structure. We ensure our customers receive products that are not just beautiful but are crafted for a superior, lasting experience.
